What does a typical working day on client site look like for you?
I like to start my days early. I’ll usually check my e-mails first thing and prioritise anything that needs urgent attention, catch-up with my Engagement Manager when I start work and then write out the day’s to-do list.
The work is varied, interesting and challenging and the days go by very quickly. Typically, I finish between 1800 and 1900 which I think is pretty good; then it’s home for the evening, usually Netflix and then get ready to go again the next day.
How has your career developed at BCS?
Before joining BCS I hadn’t worked in Financial Services before. Understandably, I was a little concerned whether my lack of sector specific experience would hamper my progression and mean that it would take longer to get up to speed.
Luckily, the Learning & Development offering at BCS is first class and, as a new-joiner, you are given all the opportunities you need to increase your sector knowledge, enhance your consulting skills and develop into the consultant you want to be.
I’ve been very fortunate in that I have a great relationship with my career coach and Engagement Manager, both of whom I know are always looking out for my best interests and pushing my development forward.
What would you say to someone thinking of joining us?
Smile, work hard and get involved from Day One. And remember, first impressions count!
