What does a typical working day on client site look like for you?
Currently, I am working as a lone consultant helping a multi-national investment bank with some cost/process optimisation and transition work across functions in North America and Europe, which means my hours can vary quite a bit to accommodate time zones.
A typical day would begin with an early morning work-out around 7:30am, before my first meeting with the team to discuss our key priorities / actions for the day. During the day I could be doing any number of things, from dealing with senior stakeholders across the project to preparing and maintaining all the necessary files for our work to run smoothly.
Usually, once I’m finished work I would either be heading out to rugby training or tag rugby with the BCS Trynamites – but unfortunately Covid has put a temporary halt to that but I’m hoping we can get back to it soon enough. Working from home has shown me that I can be more efficient and organised with my time which has been a good learning curve and a positive that I’ve been able to find in our current situation.
How has your career developed at BCS?
Since joining BCS in 2019 after two years with Accenture, I can honestly say that I feel my career has come on leaps and bounds. Alongside my promotion from Associate Consultant to Consultant, my confidence in my own abilities has grown greatly since joining the company, largely thanks to the incredible management networks and team that BCS has to offer.
Being given the responsibility of a lone consultancy role, at my level, has also helped to develop my skills and expertise at a really quick rate. The fact I was given a role like this just goes to show the level of trust and faith that BCS have in their consultants. Furthermore, I joined BCS for the learning and development opportunities that I could pursue – since arriving I have begun studying for the CISI Investment Operations Certificate, alongside utilising the wide range of internal learning materials that the incredible BCS L&D team provide.
What would you say to someone thinking of joining us?
