What does a typical working day on client site look like for you?
I’m working on a Financial Crime Risk programme for the UK Retail and Business Banking division of a global bank. A typical day usually starts with a team meeting to check-in on progress, raise any issues/ blockers and reach out for support if needed.
We’re working in the data quality workstream, so a lot of our work is project managing the various technical teams across the bank to uplift data related to Financial Crime models, designing and analysing metrics and working across the business divisions to identify the root cause of data issues and propose remediation solutions.
The work we do gives me exposure to the industry and our clients’ needs, enabling me to learn and develop at a fast, but manageable, rate.
How has your career developed at BCS?
I joined BCS as an Associate Consultant in September 2017 from a Technology Consulting firm and I have since been promoted to Consultant, Senior Consultant and now Principal Consultant.
The bulk of my experience was in more general consulting however, as well as gaining Financial Services industry knowledge through the very nature of BCS’s projects, there’s also a wide range of learning resources available to everyone such as Masterclasses and Chartered Banker/ IOC qualifications.
BCS trust in your skills as a consultant meaning you’re always going to hit the ground running. Alongside all of the learning and career development opportunities BCS provides, there is also a fantastic career coach and engagement management network to support and help shape your career goals.
What would you say to someone thinking of joining us?
If you’re hungry to learn, grow your career and work alongside a variety of like-minded and intelligent people, then BCS is the place for you.
BCS’s expectation is not for you to arrive on Day One with a wealth of experience but to have the initiative and aspiration to develop into a successful and driven management consultant.
