What does a typical working day on client site look like for you?
As with any consultancy, works varies from day-to-day.
I usually start early so that I have some time to focus on any internal work I have on. I then prioritise my activities for the rest of the day.
I’m currently working for a client in Canary Wharf on a global operational risk transformation programme, where my main focus is on delivering a target operating model. This can involve engaging with programme stakeholders, running workshops, presenting key deliverables or solving any issues that crop up. Working with two other BCSers, we catch up daily to discuss progress and ensure that we are all aligned in our approach.
It’s not all about work though! BCS has a fun and varied social calendar and there is often a Company event to go to in the evenings. Be it tag rugby, gallery viewings, language clubs or wine tastings, there’s something to interest everyone.
How has your career developed at BCS?
I joined in February 2016 as an Associate Consultant and have since been promoted through the grades to Managing Consultant. I didn’t have any Financial Services experience when I joined, so my learning curve has been steep!
There is a strong emphasis on learning and development here; I’ve gained the CISI Certificate in Investment Operations and am making the most of a wide range of industry related internal training opportunities.
I find the work we do challenging. Supported by my managers to take on responsibility and encouraged to grow as a consultant, I have surprised myself with what I have been able to accomplish.
What would you say to someone thinking of joining us?
