What does a typical working day on client site look like for you?
I’m currently working with a challenger bank and my time is split between our office near Bank station and various client offices. The nature of the project means that a ‘typical’ day is hard to come by. In our advisory role we are helping to manage and guide the bank through a transition period following their recent migration to a new infrastructure.
My day may start with a business update from stakeholders on progress against our key deliverables or facilitating workshops and then I move on to planning for the week ahead and checking up on emails that I have received throughout the day.
Most days include a couple of urgent requests or challenges that are good to shake things up a bit!
How has your career developed at BCS?
I’ve been with BCS for several years now, having started as an AC in March 2017. My project experience has been quite broad and I have had the opportunity to develop a wide range of skills as a result.
In my previous role, I didn’t have much exposure to operating model design so existing case studies and knowledge sessions at BCS have proved a great way to get up to speed quickly. For specific subject matters, such as new regulation, BCS also provide workshops from leading SME’s.
My time at BCS has been spent on relatively small project teams (typically 3 or 4 people) where we have been working with, and alongside, a wider client team. It’s been great to be involved with clients where BCS have built trusting relationships as this gives us great responsibility and opportunities from the outset.
A combination of good learning and development opportunities and a wide range of projects have been a contributing success factor to my development. It’s been a challenging and fulfilling few years!
What would you say to someone thinking of joining us?
In my opinion, BCS is genuinely a great and unique place to work.
My personal experience has shown that there are a wide range of opportunities across a number of different subject matters in FS and there’s a real drive here to match people with projects that are in line with personal development goals.
Most importantly, BCS offers an environment that challenges and motivates, whilst a providing a welcoming and inclusive place to work.
