Enterprise-Wide Testing And Release Management Operating Model
Our team worked with a global corporate bank to create and define a strategic approach for integrated testing and release management for their Technology function.
The brief
Our client’s Cash Management function, within Corporate Technology, was committed to a series of complex, multi-year change programmes aimed at consolidating the IT infrastructure across their international businesses. Our team was brought on-board to help address a number of delivery, cost and quality challenges by defining a new strategic release management approach.
The solution
After carrying out a current state assessment of the client’s change management function, our team highlighted a number of key improvements that could be delivered by creating an Enterprise Release Management (ERM) function. The ERM focuses on streamlining the process of integrated development, testing and release of the core application components.
Working alongside the client’s leadership team, including their newly appointed Head of ERM, we defined and documented the Terms of Reference for the ERM while detailing objectives and linking them back to the current state assessment findings.
We also defined the Target Operating Model for the function, highlighting vital people, processes and tools, as well as articulating the enterprise test strategy, environment management strategy, quality assurance process and test data management principles.
The results
Our on-site team acted as a key enabler for ERM reducing risk, cost of testing, and change delivery across the project as a whole. The client was also impressed when they saw the quality of deployment for technology change improve markedly across their organisation.
