Enabling technology to meet ring fencing regulation
We helped design, mobilise and execute a technology programme capable of separating our client’s core businesses in order to meet ring fencing regulation.
The Brief
Our client’s critical programme had failed to progress fast enough due to a lack of governance, management practices and urgency. Bank-wide engagement was low and we need to develop a communications strategy to ensure the complexity and scale of the challenge was understood and supported at a senior level. Additionally, the PRA were pressing for plans, details of the programme structure and a testing approach and so there was also an urgent need to centralise core and common work.
The Solution
Our team landed and quickly established a central programme to drive forward the overarching technical delivery capability. We rapidly developed, validated and communicated delivery plans, calling out key dependencies and assumptions and, critically, identifying where scheduling across the federated programme was failing to align and connect.
We defined and embedded the end-to-end testing strategy that our client urgently needed to deliver compliance and worked with stakeholders to ensure they supported our approach. While carrying out central governance, our remit expanded to focus, firstly, on assuring that the technology designed would deliver compliance to the regulation and, secondly, resolving spot issues which boiled up through the course of the programme.
The Results
Our team brought leadership, expertise, energy and momentum to the project which resulted in the delivery of a central programme ensuring governance and consistent delivery practices, higher levels of awareness and urgency and the answers the regulator required.
